Back to teaching? Now what

By: Justin Williams

Going back to teaching was one of the hardest decisions I have made in awhile. Overall, it feels like the best decisions to make for the future of my book store and for education of whoever is in my classroom.

Reality hit me as I walked into a classroom for the first time last week. Plastic separated each student. and No one was to sit even remotely close to one another. This is not how we were designed to interact. During the year of COVID, I've seen buildings burned, looted, and broken into. Lines hundreds of feet long for food pantries, and entirely too much somber social media content. But nothing could possibly ready my spirit for seeing those kid's childhoods playing out. Seemingly all at once, my purpose for acquiring all this knowledge reading books has shifted to a strong desire to teach and work towards a sense of normality.

What does this mean for the book store? Well, now Dover, Delaware has a night bookstore! I'll be open from 4pm-9pm. As an individual, that means my cups of coffee are going to be extra black and insanely large. The emphasis on self care will match the coffee's energy over these next five months.

If you'd like to support the book store while we are temporarily closed, you can order a book online here. Or you can book a service here!
