Welcome to our four-part blog series, "Exploring Downtown Dover Delaware's Growing Art Scene"! In this series, we'll be taking a closer look at the vibrant and thriving art community in downtown Dover, Delaware.


As a bookstore and creative studio located in the heart of downtown Dover, we've been fortunate to witness the growth of the art scene in our community firsthand. Over the years, we've seen new galleries, art shows, and festivals pop up, as well as talented artists from all over the region making a name for themselves in our city.


In this series, we'll be featuring some of the most exciting artists and events in Dover's art scene, from established names to up-and-coming talent. We'll also be taking a closer look at the impact that the art community has had on our city, both culturally and economically.

A bit out Downtown Dover's Art History scene


 





The art scene in Downtown Dover, Delaware has a rich history that dates back to the early 20th century. During this time, the city was a hub for agriculture and industry, and many local artists were inspired by the natural beauty and rich cultural heritage of the region.


In the 1920s and 30s, the Dover Art League was founded as a way to bring local artists together and provide them with opportunities to showcase their work. The organization held regular exhibitions and workshops, and was instrumental in promoting the arts in the community.
